Madeleine, earlier on today I went for a walk and just 5 minutes from my home there was a car crash. It happened just a minute or two before I got there and the scene was just like in your post.

The police had not arrived yet, and since no one was in charge, I took it upon myself to control the traffic that was building up.

Your article really came in useful as I was very directive and pointed to some of the drivers to stop and when to go.

Pointing, being assertive and giving clear instructions really helped me to take charge.

I read your article earlier in the week and it was really timely.

Thank you:-)

Belinda, I really appreciate your comment. Since I plan to have the new blog up in a day or two, I wouldn't give links to this blog. (I'll let you know in the next few days.)

Sounds great Madeleine. I'm writing a post for tomorrow that I plan to mention you in. You have great examples of it never being too late to do great things. Can I still use links from this blog?

@Belinda, Thank you for your comment. It was only recently that I learned that Annie Glenn had undrgone the treatment which helped her so much. I knew from reading the book (which, by the way, is extremely well-written) and seeing the movie that she was terribly incapacitated by her stutter. How awful for her to be thrown into the limelight as the wife of astronaut and later Senator John Glenn. (And what a devoted couple they are.)

@Arvind, I agree that too often easy we take things, such as good health or loving relationships, for granted. The U.S. will be celebrating Thanksgiving in a few weeks--a good time to appreciate what really makes life wonderful (besides a table loaded with food).

Great story of inspiration and hope Madeleine.

It is amazing how we take for granted such common things as being able to speak clearly.

Time to be grateful for what we have:-)

Madeleine, what a great story of courage and overcoming a challenge. Another proof that it's never too late to make a change. Thank you for posting this and the video!
